I am in a dilema at the moment. I have been thinking lately that I may want to get rid of revo and change. Basicly companies such as custom code, celtic tuning etc and getting rave reviews as there remaps are custom and thus offer better performance. Celtic qoute upto 210bhp from leon fr tdi. But then revo u can swicth and its reliable. Help me guys what to do. Stay with revo or not?

Thanks

don't get a 210 remap on standard clutch cos it will change the power delivery my 200bhp map easily beat a 210 celtic map. 210 @ 4500+ :(

stage 2 isn't available on TDI's get a few more mods exhaust etc then take it too jabba or custom code to tweek for you.

Performance isn't just about headline figures you know. Anybody can say they'll remap your car to xxx bhp, but what's the point if the car's undrivable afterwards?

The thing is, it's your cash so ultimately do what you want with it.

So can places like JBS tweak revo remaps then?
Nope.

It'll mean a whole new remap from scratch so another £400+ for very little gain as your car is standard.

no bascially when gettinga custom ramp ask for something droiveable 300lbs/ft @2000rpm and 195bhp @ 4000 actually similar to what you have is ideal i would stick with revo

5bhp is not worth £400..

i.e two identical cars cupra 160Pd 20,000 mile

one map quoted 300-310lbs/ft @ 2000rpm 195-205@4100rpm

against quoted 290lb/ft @2000 210@4500rpm

the first map was faster than second. simply down to unsable power on second map.

I would stick with revo untill uprated clutch, exhaust then get a custom map

320lb/ft @2000 210bhp@4100rpm :) thats my plan

you say 5bhp isnt worth £400

but.. your gonna spend well over £1400 for 10bhp!!!

£700 clutch
£300 exhaust
£400 custom map

don't be silly!!

not quite

drive plate pressure plate £400 fitted free (i love my bro)
de muffle £80 powerflow (maybe race cat)
upgraded remap £250

basicaly the clutch on first so no clutch slip, so faster aceleration
then de muffle when got spare cash
i may and probrably will be content with that
if not and want more torque (more of a edge) remap as next christmas present to myself.

it's more the torque and no clutch slip i want increase my usable torque from 290lbs/ft or less as clutch worsens over time to over 320lbs/ft will alone be worth it
the map to make full use of clutch really could even leave the map but would need to tweek it to give more torque hence £250 or less bascaily he said "get uprated clutch i have the uprated map waiting."

de muffle cos i heard it as good, £80 powerflow :)

to get a real 210bhp you must have to rev some.....

Also - 'quoted' numbers are all relative, since there is no base point or comparison.

this is true mork

to tell the truth i will keep the map i have as its great and just uprated the clutch to be able to use my torque, no point stressing components for little gain :)

yes your right sisson r no point in gettng a new map just a a new clutch to be able to get the power to wheels.

new plan: new clutch + de muffle = me :)

I suppose it's why it's advisable to do all prep work first and the get a "custom" map after.

Or rather than try and scrape 10bhp out of this 'custom remap' try

- Suspension mod's so you can catch up through the twisties
- Bake mod's so you can out brake them into the corners

or if your 100% sure you want the power get a NOS kit and some 50bhp jets

less custom than they'll have you beleive

Perhaps we should do a glossary of frequently used terms and what they mean in crystal clear 'English' ;)

A truly good driver doesn't need outright power - so make the car handle, learn to drive & you don't need to compensate for your lack of skills with more power.

being smooth costs nothing.

Is an uprated clutch really £700 ??

I get clutch slip @ 3000rpm when I'm booting it - I was thinking about an uprated clutch as I don't want my custom map tweaked to reduce the power at this level !

Running 210 Bhp will mean the following as discussed new clutch etc. But don't forget that the Exhaust Gas Temperature goes so high that the Turbo + other engine components won't last very long. 220 Bhp is the ultimate max for a 150 PD engine, but then injectors and turbo are maxed out and reliability is very questionable. :drive2:

Just stick to a safe 190 –195 Bhp.
