Hi on my MK4 Ibiza there is a sensor just below the gear selector shaft. It got broke
putting the gearbox back in, does anyone know what this sensor is and what is does, My car seems to run fine without it but the gear changes dont seem quite so easy.

PS I would upload a photo but this forum insists on using URLS. any suggestions where I can easily upload a photo to ?

You can upload it to photobucket and then post the url once you have 15 posts under your belt. Say hi to a few peeps in the welcome section to build up your 15 posts.

It's in the rules that you skimmed through when you joined.

Yea sounds like the switch for the reverse light. Legally, you don't have to have a reverse light anyway so doesn't sound too bad. If gear changes aren't as easy you might need to re-calibrate the selecter cables but they should have been done when the gearbox went in.

Thanks

Your correct it is the reverse sensor, I put the gearbox back in myself, whats this about calibating the cables ? I would have though you just connect them back up.

Its had a new ( second hand ) flywheel put in by me and the only slight issue is I can feel a slight resistance between gears. I had to blead the clutch fluid to get air out, but the clutch does not feel like its binding in anyway.
