Gearbox Oil

I am sure this has been answered before but i didnt find the exact reply i was looking for.

I have an 03 1.2 Seat Ibiza which has recently had an oil leek from the geerbox. Anyway thats sorted now and i want to check the gearbox level to make sure its ok. However, i am unsure of where the level is checked. There was a bolt below the gearbox but i think its too low to be the level checker. Any help would be greatful on where the location of the fill level is.

Also is there a Haynes manual for this model/year??

there is ually a drain plug/bolt, then one of the same design on the side of the gearbox for filling/level.

Think i may have checked the drain bolt then as it was very low. Is it on the right/left side of the gearbox do you know?

i dont know with your one.
i know on the 6 speed in the leons there is a drain plug on the underside and the fill level hole is on the front about 4-5 inches up from the bottom.
On yours it could be front or side id imagine.

Dont go porring it into any holes if you are not sure. - many have ruined clutches this way.

As far as im aware, there are two holes as said. The level should be level with the top hole, if that makes sense? Basicaly, you would need to pour oil in the top hole untill it overflows and then it is full.

BUT - please wait for someone to verify this before you start pouring oil in random holes on your gearbox!

If you are stuck for a repair book for this car, try the Polo 9N Haynes one - runs for the same period as your car and will cover most things other than Seat specific bits - and there are not TOO many of them. If I can remember correctly, there is a level/fill plug on the left-hand side maybe in the area near the N/S drive shaft, I can check up later when I'm at home - is it the 5 speed gearbox?

Ah, 1.2 engine - so that means 5 speed box, so ignore that question!
