Not too sure myself on this one.

when its cold. very cold and car left for ages, say overnight. when i first start it. put it into first and off we go, no problems there. when i change to second sometimes can feel a slight resistance or notch.. same in third. but not all the time. and its very very slight, when it has changed gear a few times or the car is warm its perfectly fine. i have heard alot of gearboxes when cold are hard to get into gear etc.

this is not hard to get into gear just a slight notch feeling and no crunch noise.

has anybody else experienced this? by the way the gearbox oil is fresh all new from seat.

my guess would be, that the oil is kind of thick when cold, and once it warms slightly, if it warms slightly at all, it gets slightly thinner so is easier to find gear, nothing to worry about i would say

Mine has always done this from day 1 and is worse in winter with the cold. Also my MK IV Golf GTi did it. It just feels heavy, lethargic & slow for a few hundred yards.

I double-clutch first change into 2nd when its really cold and drive it like a vicar until it is hot.
