Gearbox failed

Hi nothing but bad look! Got in from work yesterday an oil was pouring out of the bottom of the engine after jacking it up there is a nice chunk missing from the bell housing! So a gear box is needed do you guys no any decent place? It's a seat Leon 1.6 petrol 5 speed any help would be most appreciated

Unlucky mate. There should be plenty in breakers yards/ebay/gumtree, its probably worth checking the code/part num, as the VW and audi 1.6s should be ok!

Sorry to hear that mate Could try some local vw/audi specialists, they sometimes have recon gearboxes. I got one for a Golf GTI years ago from a place in Hoylake on the wirral wonder if its still there

edit: Found it, its called Discount VW Audi Centre, maybe give them a call ? If i remember correctly it's right next to Hoylake train station unless they moved.

Place at Manchester mr clutch, they will do it for £900 that includes fitting it and fitting a clutch I already have, you reckon that's a good price?

My gearbox blew on me i paid around £1300 but that included a Sachs clutch new battery driveshaft and a second hand gearbox around 400 i think to give you a comparison of some sorts

I once paid 700 for a clutch in my old honda

While the gearbox is out get a new clutch kit as the parts are cheap, mostly labour...

I already have a clutch ready to bang in it, finding it really hard to pick up a used gearbox, every breakers are basically saying because there such a reliable engine there not getting any in cheapest I have been quoted for a used box is £600!
