Gear Stick Knob thing.

HI my gear stick knob has been worn down and it annoys me a fair bit.


What can i replace it with. Preferably not to expensive. i looked about and couldnt find anything other than the usual tat on ebay.


Are there any other models that share the knob.?

i used a gear knob off a mk2 leon. clips straight on mate.

how do i get old one off and new one on.


also does it have to come with gaiter etc etc.

there is a guide on here i think but its really easy...
you have to pull off the leather gaiter off from the plastic and basically turn it inside out..you will see a black plastic clip,squeeze together to release.
you should also see a "1 use clip" holding the gear knob on. get this off and then pull the knob off...oh er....
fit in reverse.
my mk2 gear knob clipped straight on and didn't need the clip but you could use one of those metal screw clips if needed...
i also used a cable tie to hold the gaiter onto the gear knob as the original clip wasn't big enough to fit new knob.
took about 20mins total time..

i've got a seat sport one
i think seat have got wise to this now and have adjusted the price, BUT, the altea 6-speed seat sport knob fits and cost me £45

Yeah go for a Seat sport one. They look really nice. pricey but worth it

yep, get the seat sport one - very nice. the altea one is now the same price - RRP £90 !!
