You tried some Millers? Mine runs a lot better now I've used some, was on 115,000 miles when I bought it and now on 130,000.

I'm always worried about poodling around too much incase it doesn't take my Turbo vanes through its full angles & consequently carbons up ! The only good side to it in that respect is that at about the same RPM that Peak Torque starts up is I understand the RPM of least Soot production (a graph from "Flybywire" in the states. I like to get good economy & also put less stress on the engine but the £££££ related to a new turbo due to crapped up vanes frightens me more !

best for mpg

I have a 130 leon mrk1 pd evo mapped to 173-175 bhp (not tested yet awaiting new clutch...suprise surprise) on 53 plate...if Im taking it easy..i slowly push the pedal down and change up at 2000 rpm any lower and the engine labours and pass 2000 turbo kicks the mpg out the window.a labouring engine is to be avioded both ends of the rev range.
mine at 70mph in 6th is only doing 2000rpm anyway.
there are lots of other things you can do to help your MPG..I dont know how much youve done aready but...BUT this helped me...
put alittle more air in your tyres, take the crap (in my case) out of the boot, better air filter,change(clean/better grade) oil, fuel filter, clean your MAF (I spray mine with contact cleaner then dry it on cool with Gf's hair dryer...same with the KnN air filter)
dont have your A/c on,or your heated mirrors, heated rear window (climate pack) anything that draws power uses your fuel, radio not so much.
also driving with the windows open creates drag so does a roof rack.
sorry if im teaching you to suck eggs.
hope this helps.
