Gas consumption about ibiza MK2 1.6 SXE

I knew this is a rather rare model. Still does anyone have some clue about how much gas, it should consume per 100km? Mine seems need around 10l for 100km, which sounds a bit too much for me. Since it is a 2nd hand car, I am not so sure whether it indicates the problem with engine? If not, how could I bring down the gas consumption?

many thanks for your answers.

Are you from over the pond?

The mpg for yours according to www.parkers.co.uk is 36 miles per gallon, divide that by 4.54 (litres per gallon) you get 7.9 miles per litre. ie 79 miles per 10 litres.

79 miles multiplied by 1.6 (km per mile) is 126kms.

However depends on your driving, 36 is the highest, stop start around town etc brings it down a lot.

To get the best its good old fashioned servicing

air filter, plugs, check air pipes and vacuum hoses for leaks.

fuel cleaner, clean throttle body, dizzy cap contacts. etc

thx for the answer.

I guess mine indeed consumes a little bit more gas. Is this still in a reasonable range, or should I really have it checked by official garage?
