Er no they arent the same on all Leon's! I bought one off someone on here and it was totally different! It needs to be the right part number. Mine was blue in colour and the one I got was black! Probably same thing happened to other peoples as mine. Either a pothole but I think mine went as it was soaking wet as was the soundproof on top of the sensor!

Hi

The crash sensors are not all the same

They have the same part number but have a special characteristic after the number which is paired to Air Bag Controller

Mine was 00A WHICH WAS THE SAME BOTH SIDES

I swapped to passenger side to double check and the fault changed to passenger side as suspected.

This can be confirmed with Vag Com

They are expensive an and got mine from TPS £136.00 + VAT

The problem stems as previously stated from a leaking door seal which needs resealing on the inner door carrier

Thats a very good price

Just remember to disconnect battery for 30 mins before changing the sensor to avoid deployment of air bags

The part numbers are the the same on the sensor label. The last three letters ie 00A show on Vag COM.A new one has the part no + the characteristic letters on the box which match the controller.I was advised when i tried a breaker, to take my laptop and fit the one he had in stock and try it with Vag Com to see if it matched. He was charging £20.I the end i went to TPS more expensive but less hassle than having day off work to go to yard.Hope this helps.

Thanks for that mate much appreciated.

I works shifts so im off quite a bit during the week/afternoons so think my best bet is to have a little trip up there with the seat out and carpet ready to be lifted then try it up there.
Can see why you went for TPS though my heads gonna explode with this lol.

You're welcome best of luck with it.If you can take a laptop with VAG COM on it you can check the part is compatible and reset your light at same time.

I know this is an old thread but can anyone help with the same issue.

What is the procedure for finding the exact part number using VAG COM?

These are the codes I got:

Control Module Part Number: 1C0 909 605 A
Component and/or Version: 1L AIRBAG VW51 0A 0004
Software Coding: 12620
Work Shop Code: WSC 06441

2 Faults Found:
65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error
00-00 - -
01222 - Crash Sensor Side Airbag; Passenger Side (G180)
37-00 – Faulty

Is the G180 Crash Sensor OS or NS on the car? I only say this as the OS (right) carpet is SOAKED through and the NS (left) is completely dry.

From experience is the G179 Crash Sensor Driver/OS/right or Passenger/NS/left.

I think they are the same part just diff sides, try swapping them over to see if fault moves, making sure you disconnect battery 30 mins before unplugging.....i allways leave door open and put key in ignition, turn ign on then connect battery back up.....if the bags go off at least your not in the car.

Ok I will try that when I have a little more time. I plan to take the seats out and then the carpet to fully dry everything out.

When you say swap the sensors I assume the seats still have to be in the car when I test it again.

Also can you tell from the codes that I posted what part number the sensor should end with?
