How was the old stereo wired in? As in did it look like the previous owner had 'modified' the connection? Might be that they have messed around with the live feed. Does the stereo come on when the cars on?

Also im not sure but i think the cigrette lighter and stereo worked off the same fuse? Im sure someone else will correct me otherwise ill check tomorrow.

nah the wires hadnt been tamperd with far as i could tell, will have another look tomorow when theres some daylight though, but according to the hayes manual the cigarett lighter has its own fuse (3), the stereo goes through the same fuse as the boot light and central locking, niether of which feature on my model anyway... ill recheck the wiring though cheers.

figured out that the wiring loom that came with the radio was faulty, got a replacement, s'all gravey :D

When I bought my Ibiza, it came with a really sh1t radio and someone had kindly lopped off the loom connector and most of the connections were twisted wires. (wtf)

I temporarily bought a new aerial amp, but that didn't improve the siganal.

Last week, I bought a new head unit and ISO connector - and I set about connecting up the ISO connector on Saturday.

Hmm - no power on the switched live to the radio. At least that answered why the aerial amp wasn't working, it was wired into it.... And the answer is - fuse 21 loose! Pushed the fuse home - power! :) I got the headunit installed, but didn't have time to setup bluetooth etc as we had a houseful for the weekend.

Got in the car this morning, no radio. A little pressure on the bottom corner of the dash and I made it flicker. Great design the way the bottom removal part of the dash goes right across the fuses. :censored: I couldn't make it give a permanent supply with it pushed fully home.

What do I need to do tonight?
  • Bend the fuse
  • tighten the fuse holder
  • investigate the fuse connections
  • all 3 of the above
  • something else

Here's the culprit!

It rather defeats the object of having a fuse!
