Hi

I am about to make a couple of 700mile round trips in my 130bhp TDI FR

I have been using shell deisel since I got the car, tried V power a couple of times, and has increased economy.
I was wondering if anyone had used bp ultimate deisel and got any better results that about 3 mpg extra over standard deisel?

the journey im doing is practically all 6th gear cruisin at 80, so to finance the v power, need to average 3mpg more to make the fuel worth while

Thanks

Nick

I think you'd be better off with some Miller's Diesel Power Plus.

By the way, I think the record for most-miles-to-a-Mk4-Ibiza-tankful is around 700 miles, there's a challenge for you :)

ok, where can I get hold of some millers? Am going away on friday.

Is millers an additive to standard fuel (like supermarket fuel) i think i read?

Wow, 700miles is mammoth!

Ill get about 450 ish, down to penzance from mine is 320 odd, and have bout 100 spare.
Averaged 49mpg when i went down with the car brand new, now got 3,500m on the clock so shud get a bit more, but not 700milesaveraging about 80-90ish

Was that done with a 130 FR?

Have used both, appear to provide the same results - try Millers Diesel additive, it is also good for the PD fuel pump as well. ...................

THIS CLIP FROM MILLERS WEB SITE
Recommended especially for modern Euro IV compliant vehicles with catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters

Formulated to increase Diesel Cetane rating by 4 numbers resulting in significantly increased power output

ok cheers

I think ill use v power down to penzance, and possibly have to use normal shell on the way back (depends if they have it), although going back is more uphill, would be a good indication.

Not sure about Millers, someone mentioned about seat not recommending using additives?

Hard to say, some people here have used Millers for a long time and had measurable improvements in economy, certainly enough to pay the approx. 2p per litre that Millers costs.

Diesel Car got an approx 2.5% economy increase with Millers too.

I've tried all the premium fuels APART from Shell's new V-Power (it's not available up here yet) in my Passat PD 130 and ....... none has made any repeatable difference in economy. In my personal experience BP Ultimate is NOT worth the extra 5p+ per litre, compared with Shell Diesel Extra or Esso.

Millers has also launched a new additive, Diesel Sport 4, which is just becoming available now, which claims more power etc so could be worth a try.

Alright cheers, ive never tried bp ultimate, always been a shell customer (mainly due to supporting Ferrari F1, although I know theres no particular advantage gained from this weird connection!)

I want to try Shell Deisel extra but not in my area yet, sounds like its a bit of a V power but maybe not as powerful

Cheers anyway

I have coverd nearly 100k on a chipped/millers PD 130, just make sure you change the oil. ..................................

There's too many variables to judge the difference in one journey.
Temperature, wind, traffic conditions to name but a few.

For a real indication you need a long term test.
