Went to fit my R888's this afternoon, placed them upto the front hubs and the tyre is sitting on my coilover! [:@]

Went to get a 3mm spacer and guess what isn't enough :censored:

So once I accepted that I wasn't getting the front wheels on I went to try the rear to find that the wheel wouldn't even fit under the arch :censored:[:@]

The tyres are 205/55 16" so going to pay an extra £40 a tyre for the 45 profile instead, hopefully the garage will take back the 55 profile ones

Anyway since the next size I'm getting is 205/45 16" and I will still have the problem of the front tyres being wide enough to rub the coilover do any of you people running on 205/45 16 use spacers? If so what thickness?

3mm isn't enough and I'm thinking that 5mm would still be very close to the coilover so looking for Eibach one's the next size is 8mm.

Let me know ;)

Offset of the Compo's are ET35 same as standard and the standard tyres are 195/45 16" which was what my Goodyear F1's were.

lol like that you actually went outside to check.... something I've done many times.

Bloody car is doing my head in, I've untill the 24th of April to get the tyres sorted the car upto AH Fabractions for my Rad to be made up and get it re-corner weighted..... this little mishap isn't helping was one of them days that things happen and nothing goes right.

I'm running 3mm universal spacers on mine to clear the brembo's, that's with the 17" comps (205/45) and the 16" 0Z (205/45) comps are an ET38 but not sure on the OZ offset (think it's a 37) both have clearance from the strut though

Nice one Roly, maybe it's because of the 55 profile then? As the lower the ET number the more they spaced from the hub isn't it?? So therefore the ET35 of my Compo's are spaced 2mm more than the your OZ?

So going by your OZ's I should get away with it? Yea???

I'd guess it's the profile that's the prob yeah, i'm sure the profile also contributes to the width of the tyre aswell (ie) 205/55 will be wider than 205/45 tyre, i think it's something along those lines anyhow.

I'll check the offset of my OZ's when i'm at work 2moz and let you know, the higher/lower offset is one thing i've never understood

*Just had a thought*

Martin is running 205/45's on his Super T's and there a 35 offset, no spacers on them either so i would guess you'd be fine

Yea the profile thing most be something to do with it because when I had my wheels re-balanced this morning because one fell off as I was fitting my stickers they measure the width and it said 7.5mm which I thought was odd as it's usually 7J.

I have 3mm spacers in the house now so if I need spacers at all 3mm should be okay? Going by your set up?

what width are the wheels dave?
craig aka cruiser is running 205's on super turismo's 7J and he only gets scrubbage on the arch full lock
i wouldn't run 205/55

what were you running before?

yeah the smaller the ET, the closer to the centre it is!

i think it's the tyres causing the problem

Nice one Roly!

Just been looking, I was sure I found R888's in 205/45 before but for the life of me I can't so looks like I'm going back to 195 but it's got to be 195/50.... that's for both R888 and A048's.

Wanted the 205's for the wider "footprint" but if all I can have is 195/50 then that's it :(

Let me know Roly, thanks! :D

Looking at photo's of my car I don't think 195/50 will fit either..... think they going to make the wheel too big in diameter! All I want is some R888's or A048's in my life!

that's an extra 10mm mate from 45 to 50
i don't think it will make too much

as you went from 195/45 to 205/55
that was an extra 25mm

195/45 16 has a diameter of 582mm
195/50 16 has a diameter of 601mm

So;

There is a 19mm difference in the diameter of the wheel!

205/50 16 has a diameter of 612mm
195/45 16 has a diameter of 582mm

So;

There is a 30mm difference in the diameter of the wheel!

Getting mixed here

yeah your right, i did it in my head lol, so thought i was slightly off :)

but don't forget 205 isn't just 10mm wider, but when pumped, it will equate to more, maybe closer to 13-14mm

PS could you not just get some 15" wheels instead?
