about a year ago my front seat belts were replaced under warranty because they took about a week to retract. Warranty is now up and guess whats steadily been getting worse? any quick fixes or adjustments that can be made as I can't imagine how much they would skin me for a new set!

I've got the same problem on the Passat I just bought (probably the same mechanism inside, you'd be surprised how many parts are familiar after driving the Ibiza!!). Driver's side seatbelt is very sluggish to retract, almost have to push the belt in by hand !

Somebody posted a similar problem on their Fabia vRS on Briskoda and if I recall correctly Techie replied that the belts pick up fluff and debris from clothes. This then gets transferred to the mechanism on the door pillar where it gradually builds up and slows down the retraction. You need to clean the belt and the mechanism on the pillar. At least I think that is what he suggested.:D

Same thing happened on my old MK4 and the dealer cleaned the belt and spool. Lasted for about a month and then started getting sluggish again so I think regular cleaning is in order to retain the tension which will be a pain in the @rse to do.

Someone ALSO posted on a Passat forum, suggesting a good clean and light application of silicon spray helps too, and shouldn't mark clothes :)
