Front engine mount problem

Hello!

I bought one of these a while ago -

But had it fitted during the engine conversion and it doesnt seem to fit right, the engine bracket doesnt fit flush on top, it sits at an angle so theres not much surface between the mount and engine bracket. It cant be the mount as other people have them fitted, anything else it could be?

Been told to buy an original mount and fit that for now but dont want to spend £40 on it if I can use the solid one I have.

ive got one of thse....
support the engine and undo the front subframe bolts so theyre still attached but loose... tighten engine mount bolts up, and the tighten the subframe back up

the subframes on rubber mounts so has some flex to it
