Having read all the previous post from others there still doesn't seem to be conclusive proof as to wether its the front bearing that make the humming whirring noise at speeds above 30mph.
I replaced both rear bearings when i put new discs on the back about 3 mths back and it seems to quieten down for a while but now the noise is back with avengence.

So if its the front bearings at fault... which model vw hub does the the cupra use and does anyone know the price of new ones.

Yeah just had to replace one of my bearings on front.

But as it turns out it wasn't just the bearings fault. Someone had left the hub nut loose.......

Long story but basicly it must have been moving round because it knackered the hub as well. Did so much damage to the small stub that the inner race is pressed onto that it just had to be replaced... Scary thing is it didn't really make any noise only found prob when I was changing front pads and noticed the stupid amount of play in the bearing....

Back on subjuct....... yeah they're not to bad to change........
