FR TDI Turbo coming in late

I've noticed the last couple morning on the way into work, that after about halfway in, instead of kicking in at just before 2000RPM, the turbo doesn't kick in until 2500RPM! Makes it feel sluggish pulling away..

It only does it after I've been driving for a bit.. Any ideas what is causing this?

Andy

Its a bit of sitting in traffic followed by a bit at constant speed then a blast down the dual carriageway.. I usually keep the revs sat at around 2k. I'll try and boot it a bit more on the way home! :)

Well its been doing it more.. Just wondering if its my car going into DPF regen mode? The revs are sitting slightly higher at idle and the car is sluggish until the boost cuts in at 2500 revs. Its been doing this every couple days?

Do I have a faulty sensor or something?

IIRC the tickover revs will be higher when in DPF regen mode. I would sugest a trip along the motorway for 15 mins in 4th at about 3.5k revs.

I'll give that a go.. But its a bit weird it seems to be doing it every few days, whereas its only happened a couple times at most in the previous 8 months of ownership.

the DPF can definitely be a PITA. I'll be getting the DPF removed when it becomes available near where i live. Don't fancy a trip to england to get the job done.

I have noticed this from time to time, seems to do it more when the weather is warm
Better pick up on frosty mornings

I've just realised that I've started using V-Power diesel and its started doing it since then! My tanks empty now so am going to stick some normal stuff in tomorrow and see how it goes..

Hi Street,

How did you get on with this problem?

Did just changing the fuel you put in make any difference to the performance?
- May make the car feel more 'pokey' but should't affect the operation of the Turbo.

I thought putting the higher octane fuel in would be beneficial, over "standard" grade fuel.
