Hi - thought i'd piggy back and old thread rather than start a fresh one...

Did they fit Smart Nav to many Leons?

I have an FR+ (bought back in April) and it has the smartnav fitted, as did another FR that I test drove at the same time.

Mine doesn't have the screen and I'm not really bothered about it - but mine does beep for speed cameras - I checked the smartnav website and there is about a £100 a year subscription charge for it (and if you want the routefinder its extra £100 +) .

What I want to know is, - does the package they included with the FR's have this option free or am I picking up the remaining months of the previous owner and gonna have to shell out £100 to continue using it?

I think you're jsut lucky to have got the remainder of the subscription mate, dont think there is a 'pay up front' style option

Mine has it fitted, so I called them to activate it for a free month as advertised on the web for people who buy a car with it fitted. I was thinking of doing away with it and buying a tomtom or similar but couldnt bring myself to try unwiring it. Anyway they activated my free month which included the speed camera alert and stolen vehicle tracker and they said if I returned my direct debit within the month then the first year would be free and I dont start paying for 13 months. I will check the details when they arrive and keep you posted.

Have now decided its not worth it :-
The free year they are offering is just for navigation, so the second year would cost £120.
The camera warnings and tracker taken together would cost £288 for the 2 years.
So thats a total of £408 for the first 2 years, plus £264/year thereafter.
Now I just need to find the damn thing to remove it, had both driver and passenger lower halves of the dash out and the wiring seems to disappear down under the front part of the centre console so the next job is to figure out how to get that off for a look.
