Hi guys and girls.

As the title suggests, is the clutch the same on the Fr Tdi PD as on the Cupra tdi PD?

IF so, surely remapping to 180 bhp 270-280ft lb of torque shoudnt be that damaging to the clutch as long as its driven correctly?

Cheers

Nick

You only really need to change the clutch for an uprated one when you get closer to 300lb/ft.

So long as you try not flooring it at lower revs the clutch should be OK.

pretty sure its the same clutch, the pd160 is only running 253lbft as standard, but most bring up more like 260-270lbft on RR so probably safe around that mark.

the pd130 produces 229lb.ft standard and the pd160 produces 243lb.ft [i think.]

Most produce nearer 250lb.ft but once remapped they will be 280lb.ft+

The clutch starts to slip at 290 lb.ft

Thats the only thing worring me about a remap. I thought id need a new clutch. But if yous are getting 296 without slipping it seems the standard one will do :)

Warwickshire once.
My Cupra TDI is standard and I can spin the clutch up very easily in cold conditions if driving in high gears at low revs then accellerating hard. ie not working up through the gears.

If you go through the gears you may be ok, however you will probably need to change the clutch sooner or later.

im buying an ibiza 130 sport remaped to 185 bhp and 304 nm of torque!, it has an organic single plate clutch, all i know about the clutch is the Jap drifters use it! are they a long life clutch that take the punishment from the power????????????????

I think somebody has been telling you a load of shite mate. You need to fing out the name of the clutch and some proof that it has been fitted by sounds of things if they are talking crap like that.
