Forte Fuel Treatment

Just had my MOT, failed on the emissions so they put in a bottle of this superb stuff, told me to go for a drive for 20 miles, came back with the engine still running, tested again & hey presto......one MOT PASS

I would recommend "In & Out"......great staff & very helpful too

Oh & all in all it cost me £22.50 (chamber of commerce disount MOT = £10)

I've used the Redex fuel cleaner before but is this the stuff to go for?

Any other recommendations? I only use v-power which cleans it out nicely, but I have an ocd with what my car is run on

i too would be wary buying stuff like this on ebay.
oil is another big no no imo.
i didnt realise fuel treatments could tranform a car by this amount (in 20 mins) that has always been using good fuel. (as we have in the UK)

can you get the Forte stuff in your local Halfrauds? Not sure about ordering it on ebay..

dont be fooled by mot testers trying to sell on the side a flushing agent

My dads zt 1.8 turbo, failed emissions since the cat wasnt up to temp, tried selling this stuff to us which will give a pass ( then to get told to go for a 20 min drive to run it through) which by sheer coincidence warms the cat up enough for an mot pass,

and if in 20mins of driving a flushing agent can make a difference......... petrol naturally is a good cleaner, have a look into whats known as a "snake oil" on google,

cher ching...... they're 50 notes for the mot and 20 for the flush better off

and youre 70 notes out of pocket,

couldnt agree more. i'm an mot tester and dont personally do this but i know of testers that do. Wrong imo as all you have to do is get the cat hot generally

robdon is adament that tescos momentum (supre) helps. - as this contains some methanol?

How far had the mg been driven to 'in and out'.. did it sit there for long.

As in my experience the first thing an mot tester should ensure is the car is fully warm before testing, and if it fails the first thing most places will do is warm the car properly before retesting.

is it not procedure to test when engine is hot only? i thought there was something you had to tick to indicate engine as at 'operating temp' something like saying the rad fan has kicked in etc?

tickover will very rarely get a cat up to temp, but to be fair it was only a 15 min dive there, and the car was left running for a good 10 mins on the ramp,

i had a recent mot on the leon, with remap, gave it a good bit of stick before the test and as an example

61k miles, stage 1
scorpion cat back

co2 reading 0.200 is your limit,

gave a reading of 0.006

hydrocarbons 200 parts per million limit,

gave a reading 0f 009 ppm

lambda, 1.005

yes you do have to tell the machine the engine is hot but that doesnt mean the cat it hot if you know what i mean. the cat sometimes has to be seriously hot to get it through test, far hotter than engine temps.

I've been running Tesco Momentum 99Ron for a few tanks now, seems good stuff, but I'll judge it properly after a few more tanks. As far as additives go, Forte have a decent reputation, but completely agree with the point about the cat needing to be hot before it reaches any sporty of efficiency.

yup i'll agree ive found the lc more hesitant with v-power and seems to prefer either momentum 99 or sainsburys 97
