Posting to see if anyone else has suffered similar issue?

After intermittent tech gremlins plagued my Mk4 71 plate Leon, particularly with the SOS system, I was truly hoping this time last year that when I changed it for a brand new Formentor the issues would be solved. Fast forward to now, sadly not! Similar error, but instead of correcting itself, it’s seemingly a control unit malfunction.

For a bit of background the car was parked up on the first week of January and was sat for around 3 weeks without movement. I’ve been making use of a family leased EV that is sitting around dormant with lease mileage to be used up. I did use the Formentor towards the end of Jan to keep the battery charged and take the rust from the discs, no issues.

Gone to use the car this weekend and immediately noticed the infotainment wasn’t booting up, it was stuck on the “loading settings” screen. I carried on as I’ve known it to do that sometimes, taking a couple of minutes and then eventually booting. Sadly a mile down the road the well-known SOS fault comes up, visit workshop it demands! Continued driving to work, albeit in silence as no infotainment, thinking that when I park it up and return in 7 hours later it would have itself sorted out. Which was always the case with my Leon.

Days have now passed and the error persists along with a plethora of warnings from assistance and safety systems, so I called Cupra Assist to attend and they have diagnosed it with two faults - one for the SOS control module and another for “Ethernet databus branch 6”. Can’t be fixed at home, needs to be seen by a master tech. Wonderful.

Nearest dealership can’t see me until the very end of April. 10 weeks. I did follow this up hoping it would be an error of the system but no, they genuinely are booked up until then. The absolute best I can do is a dealership further away that can see me in 4 weeks for a diagnostic appointment. Begrudgingly booked, and will have to deal with lack of infotainment and all the wonderful associated warning lights until then. Apparently it’s not serious enough to warrant prioritising, which I understand as the car is essentially functioning as a vehicle, but with no infotainment, no SOS and intermittently working safety/assist systems, I naively thought that a premium brand would be more concerned.

So… does this sound similar to anyone? Any helps or hints? We did check the battery with a multimeter, it was showing a good 12V discharging and 14v with the engine running, charging at 35amp. This was also confirmed by cupra assist, so it’s not a battery issue. Also tried to disconnect and reconnect the 12v, which got us nowhere.

Fault code (static) B20004B in Telematics module “Control Module Fault”.
Fault code (static) U123100 in Gateway module “Ethernet databus branch 6 - no communication”.

Was doing so well up to now!
