Model Year 21/22 Formentor Phev VZ2 2021

Hello,

My partner has recently purchased the 245bhp formentor phev and we are getting what appears to be terrible range on electric mode.

Today to work and back she did 12 miles off a full charge (In electric only mode), I have read that in the cold weather the milage is worse but this seems really low.

The drive to work was at probably 45mpg, with the drive home being slow due to traffic, but both journeys used similar amount of electric.

We are from the UK so it is a colder time of year but it wasn't freezing.

I'm worried that she may have purchased a car with a highly degraded battery, but truthfully I don't know what milage we should be expecting this time of year. I accept its a few years old so battery won't be perfect.

Any advice on the milage you are receiving will help me to work out if the battery is massively degraded or not.

Thanks

Did you condition the car before the journey, ie warm the battery and cabin with the car plugged in?

I've got the 204 HP version, and the lowest range I ever had was about 25-26 km. It was in really cold conditions last winter (about -15 Celsius in the morning and about -10 in the evening - return trip), and I was also using the HV battery to pre-condition the car before leaving from work to home. In the morning I don't really need to pre-heat the car - it's sitting in a semi-closed underground parking overnight. The terrain profile on my daily-routine is really flat, mostly urban + some periphery, with a speed average of ~25 km/h. All those parameters are relevant for the EV range that you might get, plus the way you set/use your climate control.
Anyway, I would suggest you have a look at the energy economy your car reports at the end of those trips and deduce how much kWh you've used. That should give you a fairly-good idea about the state of your HV-battery. My average during the cold season is about 24-28 kWh/100km (sorry, you'll need to convert that :)), but I've seen reports of 35 kWh/100km and higher.

Thank you for your responses.

It seems to have done a little better today, but still unsure if this is normal.

33.64 kwh/100km was a 9 mile drive this morning, the temprature was around 3 degrees celcius, aircon on 21 at level 1 . This was without pre conditioning the car

Let's see how the drive home goes.

Let's see how the drive home goes.

On the way home it was more stop and start due to traffic. I got 51.34 kwh/100km this was the car pre conditioned to.

So without traffic it was much better than 51.34 at just 33.64. Managed to do about 18 miles before battery was empty in total.

Again thanks for your help everyone. I still have a feeling that this performance is about 30% less than it should be but possibly I'm wrong.
