The other day it was foggy and for the first time i found myself using the front and rear fog lights...... they were on for about 30 mins and then went off! I checked the fuse and noticed it had blown so today i went to fit a new one and noticed that the one already in there was 10amp, where as the manual says 5amp. I put a new 5 amp one in there and it blew straight after i turned the fogs on. Tried a 10 amp and that did the same. So im now thinking that the having the wrong fuse in there to start with may have damaged the wiring. I have checked the wiring close to the lights and it seems ok, so where would i best start looking now? Any ideas any one?!

Also, on a different note, every so often when i start the car in the morning it starts ok, but then it idles really roughly and if you try and drive it all but stalls unless you give it some good revs where it seems to 'push through it'. After that it drives fine. Only does it from cold and only about 1 in every 5 to 6 times. I have pulled the codes and nothing is recorded. I have checked all the normal connectors and that sort of thing but nothing. I did think it could be the maff or 02 sensors but surely that would show as a fault code.

Hmmm. My manual says 5 A as well, but a moments thought leads to the conclusion that it must be a misprint. Front fogs are 55W, rear fogs 21W, that's a total of 152 Watts, or roughly 13 Amps at 12 Volts. You need a 15 Amp fuse.

If it still blows after that, check that the previous owner hasn't installed higher wattage bulbs in the front fogs.

id try the dielectric grease mod on your mafs electrical connector, rough running that clears up as the car warms can often be moisture/ condensation in that plug causing a dodgy signal till its burnt off.

dirty throttle body can cause similar too.

sounds to me as if the wires are touchin somewhere if it shorts out.
