Dave - I *might* have a spare black plastic "MAP" Pipe from an LCR if you want it. There's two brass inserts for the MAP to screw into, and the inserts were spinning, so I had to cut the bolt heads off. The LCR MAP needs a 12mm dia hole, I assume the Cupra's is the same.

The TT225 one is the same, except the mounting tab is wider - on the LCR they simply cut half away to get it to clear the fan housing.

IIRC Sie got Forge to knock up a complete replacement out of ally with their MAP boss welded on.

Cheers Phil, I was looking at the same think Sie did. I think I might try to avoid going under the battery tray.

While you're here though, was it you that was doing the polished LCR charge pipes?

No, it won't fit the LC. The LC needs to have inlet/outlet on the same side (drivers side), and not one at either end.

Have a read of this thread, in particular note post #45!

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=111618&highlight=fmic

But the pipe work that comes with the cooler - if you look at the pictures - shows that it is fitted to a mk4 golf (with the TB on the left as you look at it) - i.e identical to a LC. Sure, there's more bends and pipework than one with an inlet and outlet on the same side and no telling how good the kit/intercooler is - but surely it would fit? Mk4 Golf 1.8T and LC are virtually identical aren't they?

I was trying to point out the differences between a well known, tested, and used kit (Forge) against the ebay SH*TE that you can buy.

At the end of the day, it's your car. Put whatever you want on it. Just don't come screaming when the results aren't what you expected, as it'll probably cost you more in the long run to put right.

As I clearly stated - I have no idea if it's good or not - and not even recommending it - just wondering whether it would fit....

i`ll try and get a pic up of the premier alloy one i have on my leon. from memory it runs down the side of the engine , battery side then down to the cooler.. then out the drivers side and up to the tb.

i had probs with fmics and flow rates. i highly recomend the above freer flowing system if going towards bt power. in all honesty mate the one you mention may well fit. but i wouldnt put anything in my air flow unless its was backed up by manufacturer warrenty. imagine a burr or bit of core breaking off:-o

if its supported it gets sorted. stick somthing on with dubious and take your chance.

for me stage one the forge one worked well.

now at silly power the premier alloy ones the business.

all my opinion of course and ive owned both. wouldnt put anything less on my car though;)

I just really can't see the point in looking at these links on ebay, unless you really can proove that they are good quality and work as good as the rest.

You can make ANYTHING fit (within reason) but if making it fit costs more money to do, why bother? Just get one you know is designed to fit without major changes, and one that, as Tramapet said, one that is backed by decent R&D, proven results, and a very good warranty/customer support.

I am only trying to help, as I speak from experience of being screwed over. I bought an item from ebay (well known brand too), fitted to car, had problems with it - had 0 support whatsoever, ended up throwing more and more money at it until i changed and went for a different product, where the support and warranty was far better. I've learnt from my mistake - just hoping others don't do the same.

So - ok - i'll change my previous post - they WILL fit, but not as easily as a product such as the Forge. And I expect if you have a CAI, that you'd have to remove it to fit one, because the pipework will be in the way.

Well I guess it depends what you're after but I think I'll go with the pro alloy option - bigger, single pass, neat pipework, no bumper trimming required and all pipes seem to neatly round the side of the engine. Plus they do an IHI version - perfect - and no matter how good the Forge product is (and I'm not denying this) they themselves have admited that it will struggle with temps produced when your pushing 300+ bhp... and others have said it's not the ideal solution if you're going IHI.

of course - if you want that kind of output from your car, and you are going down the IHI or huge turbo route - then I'd agree with you completely, as it comes recommended by those in the know :)

However, Stretch79 didn't mention that in the original post - hence why I mentioned the Forge ;)

The Pro-Alloy one is a nice bit of kit, developed in conjunction with JabbaSport.

I'm not certain that I'll get the chance to fit a GT28RS Eliminator before I have to sell the car, that's why I have gone down the Forge LCR FMIC route. A Pro-Alloy one would have been too big for my existing setup. I'm gambling that the single pass LCR Forge FMIC will be fine now and cope with the ATP Garrett (whereas a Forge LC FMIC dual pass wouldn't have done....)

Should be Dave - especailly in terms of how it will flow - and if you keep boost low, you're charge temps would be respectively lower too. Is the LCR one on yours now? Was going to ask how you've routed the hoses - but remember reading somehting about you getting the ibiza/TT inlet manifold...?

No it's not on the car yet RAF. But yes, I've got an Ibiza inlet manifold to go on. I'm looking at taking the most direct routes even if it involves carving a few holes....

Keeping boost low?? :D
