Flashing Glow plug after installing Diesel Tuning Box

I'm hoping someone can help me please....

I have just installed a diesel tuning chip on the ecu bit on my 2001 Leon 1.9 SE TDI. Suddenly the glow plug light is flashing constantly about 20 seconds after i start driving. The car isnt making any funny noises or anything and starts fine... and is a lot nippier off the mark

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks!

Yes, it's the Diesel tuning chip! Take it off.

I guess you're using one from EBAY that claims you gain BHP and fuel economy from a £20 modification? The way they work is by fooling the car into thinking then engine is cold an over fueling it, at a guess I'd say this was your issue.

If you want extra power then you need a remap.

so will it cause damage then to the car?

My brother had one on his Cupra TDI for about a day before removing it and had a remap instead. Some people seem to use them for years without issues but i wouldn't use one personally as surely they must be causing some sort of long term damage but im no expert :)

Yeah i think i might take it off tonight to be honest, i only put it on last night but dont want to risk doing any damage to the car really. think you're right, it cant be good if its causing warning lights.

Does Anyone know what damage these can actually do to the car?

Months ago I bought one of these from Celox off ebay for my Octavia, it was on for 4 days before I took it off again. I read up on all the different VAG forums, and they all said the same -- they will damage your engine.
I spoke to Celox for a refund, they refused, but I did think something was seriously amiss when they told me to keep using it, and not to worry if the ECU light came on. Said it is perfectly normal and won't harm the engine.

Sorry, but if the ECU light is known to come on when using this tuning chip, then obviously the engine doesn't like it, simply because it shouldn't be there.

If you seriously want better performance, don't waste your money on one of these 50p resistor in a box jobbies off eBay.

I've taken it off to be safe. Doubt very much i'll get a refund on it though. Cheers for the info
