flashing code on speedo and car wont start...

since ive had the car this has flashed up where the milage is but its always worked so i didnt think much of it...

i went for a drive today, only about 10 miles away to some shops and back again. when i got home i was in the house for about 10 minutes till i went to go back out again but my car wouldnt start...

there was no noise at all from the eingine, only that sort of hum you get for about 5 seconds when you turn the key to the first notch.

my starter motor didnt even try to start, nothing... i got in the car agian about 3 hours later and it started first time, so i thought it was a one off. anyway i went to pick up a mate and stopped off for petrol on the way back, and guess what, it didnt start! had to push it out the petrol station and park it up and get a lift home

anyone know what this might be? any help appreiciated!

Can you bump start the car? I take it all the electrics come on?

all the electrics work, MP3 player came on straight away...

a guy stopped and tried to jump it with his leads and still nothing from the engine

problem sounds like the starter motor but more common is the switch at the back of the ignition - fit's in the back of the lock assy with one screw

if it isn't knackered now - one day it will do

Not a jump start mate, get the car rolling with ignition on and put it into second, lift the clutch and if it splutters into life then prob starter or as above

ill try and get it rolling later when i go back then, see if that works

as for the ignition switch, you mean undo a screw where the key goes and its behind there? bit of a noob with stuff like this, so bare with me lol

If the starter isnt 'clunking' to start it could be the starter solenoid jammed. Try hitting with a hammer, or put into gear and rock the car, then out of gear and try starting.

well i went back to get my car last night and it started first time so i just drove it back home and left it parked up for the night

gunna have a look at the leads and things 2day, clean them, see if there wet or anything
