I hid my ballast boxes underneath the slam panel,so all you can see is 4 mounting bolts. They are spaced just a bit wider than the nostrels in the grille..

Hello chaps,

Just a quickie I'm looking at fitting some HID's to my '03 Plate Cupra & having read this here fitting guide...

It mentions removing the bumper...is this 100% necessary??

One of my main bulbs has blown & I'd like to get the kit & fitted asap but I'm not comfortable with removing the bumper myself so wondered if I really have to do it or can I manage without the extra effort??? ;)

Ta in advance

Neil

I fitted my Hid s without removing any bumper. If you have a CAI you can use the extra hole that use the stock air box to fit the left hand ballast. You can fit the other one next to the windshildcleaner container. There is another hole without use. But if you want a "clean look" you must remove the bumper to fit both ballast inside it.

Well the HID's are ordered £53 from a UK seller with 1 Year Warranty...I know I could get them cheaper from the Far East but I'd rather have easy aftersale backup should I fry anything ;)

Thanks for the help guys mucho appreciated.

Neil

No problems, I ordered these ones...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=190277704504

They arrived on Saturday but wasnt home to sign for them so picked them up this morning.

Seller was really good I emailed him after a week because they hadnt arrived, replied straight away & no problems.

Wait till tonight before you do jump in & order anything because I'll get some pics of the kit up first for you to see the quality etc.

Had MOT today and failed on the HID's (decided to leave them on and chance my luck as some people have passed with them) and apparently the beam pattern mine send out are just a blob - no definition at all to them - my advice is get them aligned/checked by a MOT garage after fitting to check they're OK.

Definitely not a bumper off install though!

They look like a really made kit.

I know I paid more than some of the other kits on Ebay but the backup of a UK seller if any problems arise is worth the extra.

Hopefully will look into fitting them this weekend.

Mine passed an mot with hids fitted. Its the headlamp lense that creates the beam pattern,so there should be no issues.Ive had led sidelights for 12 months now with no probs, got them from ultraleds.co.uk
