I've got an 08 FR which kit would I need H7 or H7R - sorry for being think don't understand the difference.

I've seen a fair few different kits on ebay ranging from about £35 - £40 upwards, all saying they have the digital ballasts etc, anyone know which are the best and are true 'plug and play'?

Also, by fitting a set, would there be any way that warranty issues could come in the future from the dealer?

Look at my write up :blink: I think £65 is a cheap price!

Not sure about the dealer warranty issue!

Are these road legal? It doesn't mention anything about the legality of them, doesn't say they're show only either tho?!?!?

I'm sure there is a legal post on these somewhere, try the search ;) I think it mentioned NO, but YES if they were factory fitted! Who's to know tho! Police wont pull you for them, as they just look like a modern car's lights!

Fair doos, cheers Jordan. Might get some in a month or 2!

When I had my FTO, they were the best mod I did to the car! At the moment, they are the only mod I have done to the leon, and well worth it so far! With the clocks just changing, the lights are on all the time now! Well worth the £70!

Excellent write up jordan - I know you have just the H7 hids, but do you think you'll get the H1 (High Beam) and the H3 (Fog Light) conversions too, so all the car lights match?

I wonder if its possible?

Coz they sell the H7's, H1's, H3's I wonder if it would be hard to do and worth it?

Thats something I'm looking into right now - getting HIDs for all 3 with the LED sidelight kit, so all my lights are bright and match.

The dark nights are drawing in now and I live out in the sticks - my nearest street lamp is about 14 miles away LOL!

Hi mate,
Cheers. I def need to change my high beam, but not sure if i'm going got a HID high beam! May just get night breakers H1's and leave the FOG's as I never use them anyway!

As mentioned previous if you put HID's in the H1 slot you will loose the ability to flash people! So... not sure if I want to loose that!

I expect I am going to be hit with the same problem when I get my new HID kit fitted. Done a bit of research and so far the ones bulbs are sticking out for me are the osram nightbreakers +90%. However, im not sure how look will look next to the HIDS (road projection) as they only quote an extra 10% brighter white light?.

I too like the ability to flash my main beams, oh.... and I don’t want to go spending £££'s on another HID kit.

I fitted some of these myself a while ago, although I put the power through a relay as I read somewhere that connecting it straight through can causes fuses/ecu to trip out. Have you had any issues with this?

I also had the bulb warning light on constantly on the dash, do you get this with it wired straight up?

I took these out a while ago as the wiring was a bit dire (rush job at the time :)) and it was going in for a service and I didn't want any annoying service questions.

I want to fit them back in due to the nights closing in much earlier nowadays, so the simpler I can keep it the better - however I'd like to get some replacement backplates to drill through so I can always refit the original bulbs - can anyone suggest the best way to get hold of these? What's the part number and can I order them online anywhere? (lazy :))

Cheers!

Hi mate,

I haven’t actually got any of these fitted, just trying to decide what will go best with my new HIDS. I was worried the nightbreakers (55w) would flag us some problems with the bulb detector, are the standard main beam bulbs 55w does anyone know?

I like the idea about the replacement back plates though mate, good thinking..... I would be definitely be interested in getting spare set just in case. Will try and get a part number.

I believe the night breakers are normal bulbs! The wattage shouldnt have anything todo with the canbus system. I dont think!

Not sure on the back plates, I did actually think about this when I was drilling mine! Sounds like a plan to me!

There is nothing I can do to help you out, they need to be wired to your car. If you can post me your car, i'll send it back done :D Seriously, its not hard! Just put the resistor to each wire, job done!
