I've just spent the last day and a half fitting my new facelift cupra bumper to my prefacelift cupra. I wanted to know if anybody else experieced the same difficulties that i did?

After reading the fitting guide featured in the questions section on the home page i was thinking it was going to be a straight swap; bumper off, change clips, bumper on. but it was no where near that simple! the first problem we encountered was the ejit who sold me the bumper had nackared at least three of the fixing points, meaning extra large washers were needed to fix it into the mounts, we had to relocate the horn, completely removing the hanging bracket and then attaching it to the beam supporting the crash barrier. This wasn't to difficult apart from the freezing winds, but then had a problem fixing the inner wheel arches brackets to the new bumper, then having to remove it from the car, fix it to the bumper then claw behind the wheel arch to attach!

I was under the impression that apart from the bumper guides it was a straight swap? Has anybody else who has done the change had the same problems with the horn?

Like i've said the bumper is on now so i was just really enquiring to see if anybody else had the same experience? Im not looking forward to doing the rear one now as i was really dissapointed with the colour mach between the X reg ovni yellow and the 04 yellow that the bumper was originally from. Any ideas how i could remedy this? Its not extreme, just a slight luminous hint to the younger paint work, and i know its only me who will notice but its still a bit annoying after all the hard work!

i didnt have none of these problems mate, anyway back bumper is so easy, remove four screws from inner boot, two from each wheel arch and pull off, so simple

I thouht it was strange that there was no mention of the horn on any posts on this subject, and i looked for as much info as possible before starting to make it easy for myself. When we put the bumper up to the mounts the horn was deffinatly obstructing the fog lights and there was no other option but to move them!

Wierd!

Will be starting a Work In Progress thread soon, anybody got ant ideas on the paintwork?

Well then just me!!! I wonder why i had problems with he horn? It was clearly in the way of the fog lights. Once i can get hold of the rear bumper and side skirts they will be straight on as the car looks a little front heavy with the new bumper on.

Afcajax73 can you post some pics up when your done? And give me any info if you have any difficulties please, would be good to see how its done, also if possible the location of each fixing point. when i get round to getting one i want to know where each point is so i can check to see if there not nackared like my front bumper! cheers

Did you guys just buy the parts listed in that how to article? I am about to paint mine and haven't yet bought the clips and guides and just wondered how reliable the list is? I know the prices were way off:cry:

Which body panels? My front bumper came with the grill, so all i needed to buy were the guide rails which came to £5.17 each from the stealer. But them on the bumper before fitting! cannot stress this enough! wasted about an hour by fixing them to the car first

Cheers Legh15, i did have a look at that and its deffinatly on my to-do list once the weather clears up. Hope it works!

well mine came pretty complete, with the grills and bits. I was under the impression that the inner wheels arch protector was different and it needed an extender?

Yeah extenders are needed to properly fix the wheel arch liners, sorry mine came with them already attached. You will be able to get them from the stealers for a couple of quid i think.
