Spent a few hours fitting the tank in 80 degree heat, made an L shape bracket to mount it off the battery tray next to the power steering bottle. Used the original breather hose but reversed and extended to fit to the inlet on the tank then some new 19mm hose for the outlet up to the breather filter on the TIP. Glad I managed to use the original hose without cutting, means I can take it back to standard at any time.
Few pics from my mobile, pretty pleased with it. Probably change the hose clips for newer ones and might beef up the bracket but it'll do for now. Be interesting to see how much oil is collected. Should hopefully keep the TIP and intercooler hoses oil free :)

they're not supposed to but they do. It's from the oil breather pipe tha blows fumes and oil through the filter which is mounted in the TIP. The oil fumes get sucked in by the Turbo and blown into the intercooler pipes. This is why I've fitted the catch tank to catch the oil, hopefully only fumes will then pass into the TIP. I need to clean out my intercooler hoses then I can keep an eye on it and see if any oil is still getting though.

i took my inlet manifold pipe of today and it was really clean not one bit of oil but saw a mk3 yesterday with loads of oil in the pipes so if left on and ran for a fair few thousand miles will prob catch some oil!

Fill the tank with wirewool. Where have you fed the return from the tank back too?

is that too stop the oil sloshing around?? return is back to the little filter on the back of the TIP where the standard breather pipe goes to

as far as my rst is concerned it stops the oil blowing threw the engine due to higher pressures (more boost) and simply drops it into the sump

the bailey tank i have allows the engine to breath without any obsticals ie wire wool etc and simply due to the design of the CATCH tank stops the oil going through the inlet and returns it to the sump....more benaficial to older engines

Take forever befor it collects enough oil to be worth emptying the tank. Fitted one on my evo, caught hardly anything!

All down to how you use your car.

I used 1 ltr of oil at Donington thru oil pumping into the breather system a few years ago.
sticky tyres and maximum attack track bashing @ the time.

Baffled sump advised also for this kind of use.

The wire wool will help the oil held in the fumes condense. The tank you have is empty, no baffles etc.

For it to be remotly effective youll need to d/c the connection to the tip. Itll just blow through the tank and back into the intake otherwise.

I've been told the opposite, that it needs the connection to the TIP to help draw the fumes out. Surely the oil will collect in the tank and only the fumes wll go to the TIP? I've made sure the tank is the lowest part of the system
