Hi everyone, pulled out of my garage this morning to go to work and noticed a small puddle of what appears to be oil on the floor . The cars only done 100 miles so far there has been no warning lights and seems to be running as normal but I put my hand under the front bumper and around the back of the front under spoiler and their was some oil laying there. Now I'm hoping it's just a loose pipe etc but just can't tell where it's coming from, only other place is intercooler? Cars booked in for thursday tho. Any ideas peoples?

Hey,

I just been asking my Master Tech and Service chaps and nothing has been listed as an issue. The only thing we can think is something has / hasn't been done on PDI or someone has been poking around under the bonnet and played with the oil filter.!

Is it clean around it or is the leak from lower down? Best of luck all the same.!

The oil filter is easily accessible and sits at the top front of the engine, give that a check. If all clear have a better look around, or just drop to Seat and get them to check, they won't an issue that can be solved early.

Not good - are you still driving it ? I would want the dealer to be looking at it today as its only done 100 miles.

Hi guys thanks for all your replies had a look just now in garage there seems to be a puddle of oil lying on the bottom of the under tray as your looking down at the engine bay from the top it's to the left hand side, same side the oil filter is . Have tried the filter but seems tight enough strange thing is the oil hasn't really moved at all on the dip stick did notice tho there is splashes of oil even on the air box but nothing obvious, deffo seems around the bottom of engine bay. Thanks for the offer chris but not near your neck of the woods I down near Romford area (Essex),was told by seat uk to go to Kent area but do you chance driving it as I said there was no warning lights up on dash and it seemed to drive fine a real strange one:shrug:

Defo needs to be checked out by a Seat garage/dealer. I would have thought a gentle drive to the nearest one would be okay, you can always check it as you go and just nurse it there. I've covered 1668 miles in mine in 3 and a half weeks and all is pristine in the engine bay. Oil is bang on, get it checked out, then clean that bay.

Update- Well took my boc to dealers today for the oil leak problem ive had, took my car in straight away which was good anyway after about half hour they found the problem leak. Turned out to be a tiny groove cut in the copper washer that seals the oil filter on couldn't belive it!! They said it a million to one fault in manufacture because if you turn the washer over it was fine.. Still well glad they sorted it cleaned up all oil under engine bay so very happy:D

Glad you got your issue resolved mate, i'm not 100% sure if this is the same for the ibizas but the leon tsi has no intercooler instead it has a charge-cooler with its own coolant rad.

Glad it was easily curable and only a slight leak. When u have a car that's such a performer, check it regular. Simple

Thats just for the turbo only 1.4 TSi engines (Had one of the apart to do an injector on a Golf+, great fun).

The Ibiza does have a front mount intercooler, its not very high though, looks very similar to the Alhambra/Sharan box one that runs along the bottom of the front bumper.

Yep, my Boc has a full size rad, but at the bottom just in front is an intercooler which runs the width of the radiator and is only about 5 inches tall. At least I think it's an intercooler. Hehe.

Well Revo and Superchips already do remaps for the 160BHP Scirocco 1.4TSI engine. Revo's goes up to 220BHP but the Scirocco has a manual box..

Glad you got it sorted mate. Was worried when I read your post at first.

Great to hear thats all sorted!

How are you enjoying the car? I am still getting used to the eagerness with which it will accelerate from rest. When I pull away in a line of traffic I leave a small gap between me and the car in front just so I don't accelerate in to the back of it. Getting used to the auto box and no clutch to 'slip' I suppose.

On my drive to work I have a hill which is turned on to from a sharp right-hander at about 10mph. I finally managed to have a clear run up it at 6am this morning and in Sport mode the car hit 3 figures mph at the top before I backed right off . I thought my old TDI 130 was fast and that could hit 60mph.

I love the Boccanegra :funk:
