First bump

Had my first bump there coming round a tight corner in my street. Passenger side headlight was pushed in and the plastic cover where the fog lights would be on a higher spec leon bust. The scrapes should t-cut out i hope. Just have to replace the fog plate and.................................a driver side headlight from a fookin 95 fiat uno, jesus. It wasnt my fault and he is not admitting liability, should i just replace his headlight from the breakers? I think it would save me a lot of hassle and i dont want my highly inflated £1100 insurance premium to go up (for a 1.4s beleive it or not). Advice please.

Surrey darling...
If it wasn't your fault then don't give him a thing... if he's not admidting liability either then you should agree to sort out your own repairs and leave it at that!

If you've said you'll replace his light then you may as well do it from a breakers - cheep as possible...

was he across on your side? if so, go to the police and record it as an accident to keep yourself in the right, dont buy anything for him motor.
1100 on a 1.4 is steep, what age are you? my leon cupra is only 700 fully comp and business and also my accident prone wife!

If a narrow road collision and they will not admit liability, it wil go 50/50, mutual forbarence i a decent settlement (you cover your own damage).

However by the sounds of it you have ore to loose than the other guy so might be worth buying the 2nd hand light but make sure you get confirmation that this is in full and final settlement of ALL claims and made without any admission of liability

I was paying £1400 (TPFT social driving only) on my leon 1.4s but I am only 19. I moved into my own house with a drive and my girlfriend my insurance dropped £300 :) . Just looking for a renewal qoute its only going to be £760 :D but that is still more than you are paying for your cupra

Cheers for the advice folks. I got him a light for his **** heap uno for £15 quid, a fiver for myplastic fog hole plate plus a bottle of t-cut which i was going to get anyway. Is the t-cut good stuff? Should i get the scratch remover tube or a bottle of the red stuff for my red leon? Thats it done and dusted thank god, though im still annoyed at the idea of me paying for his fault but i had more to lose.

I have only been driving a month, i am 24 and it is £1100 FC insurance as Belfast famously has the highest insurance premiums in europe, thanks to the volume of joyriding scumbags and the trouble that was here in the past. If i had have insured the car to my city house it would have been £1600 but its insured to the seaside home. I will be 25 and hopefully claim free by the time next november comes round so should save a bit. Wouldnt even consider a cupra for a few years yet.
