Nope, i thought it was starting to, the engine fault light went off on the first run down the motorway, but when i turned round to come home it started blinking again. :shrug:
Time to send it to the experts i guess

yeah, if it's an exhaust sensor thats gone, the engine could be wrongly compensating for some imbalance that doesn't exist which is then tripping out an engine sensor?

Just hope that a) driving it around isn't damaging it further b) it'll be sorted by the weekend as i need the far for a holiday to Cornwall.

**Update**
i'm taking it to Autoworld Chesterfield (reluctantly as Ted Johnson in Barnsley can't see it till next monday and i'm going on holiday this weekend) tomorrow to get it checked out.

Had it looked at today, turns out Manuel the miscreant in Martorell hadn't done a very good job wiring in the exhaust sensor and the wire touched the exhaust, melted through and shorted throwing up the emission fault, i'd guess that the CPU then couldn't do it's engine management job properly due to weird/lack of exhaust sensor information so then tried to compensate causing the engine light to blink.

Ah well, glad it's all back as it should be, off to Cornwall for a week in it this weekend which'll be lovely on the scenic routes :)

nope, seems to be running like a dream.

only thing i think they could've done better with it are:
i) the electric mirrors, they work fine, but when you turn the knob all the way down to fold up the mirrors it doesn't feel quite as solid as perhaps an Audi or BMW one would, i don't think it's going to break as such, it just doesn't have a very nice feedback to it. You know how you have the dials for the lights,and when you turn it it's smooth and it just sort of locks into place at the setting, the mirror one just feels like they didn't really spend much time designing it.

ii) the steering wheel stereo controls, the "mode" selector button only works one way, so when you want to change from Aux to CD you have to go via FM and AM radio, if you could push the button the other way you'd be able to switch quickly between the two.

iii) I can't see any easy way of routing the stereo cable form the aux in socket into the glovebox so the cup holder section is currently out of action for cup holding as the cable and ipod take it up.

Nice touches though include:
i) electric folding mirrors, even with the above i can't see me getting bored of them any time soon

ii) The trip computer having the average "mpg" and "distance to empty" next to each other on the trip computer so it's a simple click up or down of the rocler switch to change between them.

iii) The interior light, when you set it to "on when door opens" mode, it comes on when you take the key out of the ignition (could be when you turn the ignition off... i'll do it more slowly next time and find out), and then turns off when you lock the door, just gives any potential tea-leaves less time to look inside.

iv) being able to save a selection of different EQ settings on the headunit.

It's been just about tolerable so far as i've only been putting a tenner in at a time but i'm off to Cornwall tomorrow and putting £45 in to fill it rihgt up is gonna take forever.

Anyone got any tips?

The car's brilliant, bar poor mpg, i know it's supposed to get better, but my average mpg (according to the computer) over the past 180 miles is 38.8 (100 of those were on the a1(m) doing a constant(ish... i came off cruise control a few times when that juvenile urge kicked in) 75mph which was good enough to get 45mpg on that run) so my round town economy must be something like 31ish to drop the average that much.


It's had its first proper wash over the weekend, and i find myself staring at it again, whenever i go out for a cig, and whenever i walk away from it after a drive, i always give it one last look before returning inside. (sad isn't it! :lol:)
