ok finally going to get some spacers for my 1.4, but with other issues money wise recently i have not been able to complete my plan of new suspension and so on

anyway my first step down that road is to get some spacers, saw a thread in the mk4 board with spacers including longer nuts as well

anyway they have the 2x15mm type 11 ones with bolts for under 50quid which seems pretty good to me, the only issue i have is the ideal spacer size for each wheel

only seen that size for type 11 on the site which appears to be the ones to go for, or am i wrong?

i have seen people with 10mm each wheel and wondered what the best size to go for is for handling?

I've got 15mm Eibach ones on the rear of my early mk2. Just get clearance with 185/60 * 14 wheels & tyres, but get a smidge of fowling over bumpy roads with my 185/55 *15 wheels and tyres.

The post-facelift mk2 had pre-rolled arches so clearance is less of a problem on cars 96 onwards (i think you can get up to 20mm). If yours is a pre-facelift, then 15mm is the max you can go for on the back without rolling the arches.

i have the last years one a 99 plate 1.4 so should not be an issue then:)

is it a case of the wider the spacer then the better the handling in general, or at least up to a point then?

the track at the front is 35mm wider IIRC than the back, so if you widen the rear by 15mm each side you should feel a nice improvement......

15mm spacers should be the best option IMO

shouldn't need anymore

remember you need bolts that aren't too long, or they will foul the internals/rear of the drums....
