Finally car idles okay..

anyway I promised to write and tell everyone how i got my car (8V GTI) to idle if ever..after replacing everything i could(electrical) myself i took it to a VW workshop. After a few days they said they thought it has something to do with the fuel system at idle. They wanted to remove my injectors check the fuel pressure regulator etc $$$$

They told me to bring the car back in a week as the VW mechanics was going on holidays for a few days, anyway after trying a few injector cleaners with no success. I went to my local petrol station to find Ethanol fuel. I heard the stuff was very corrosive.

Work a charm car idle really high when i first used it then after a few days the car was back to normal. The must have been some dirt in my fuel injectors somewhere...guess ill never know (or care).

Good to hear you've sorted it out. I didnt know you sold ethanol fuel in Oz? I know they do in South Africa,- they had a fuel embargo about 20yrs back. Apparently it stinks when its burnt?

in oz its can only make up 10% of the total fuel and they only seel it at some servos..

i think its about 10% in s.a as well. Some people used to dilute it even more. Added methys (white spirit) with something else i think. Did no damage to the engine, and a hell of a lot cheaper too.
