FD 150 TDi Cold Weather?? UK

I've had my FR only from this summer onwards. Can someone tell my if my thoughts are unfounded or not.

I'm using more fuel for same level of driving harshness as normal and it is taking 2-3 mins more for the car's collant temp to go from 60 to 90. Only around 90 does it feel more comfortable and you should begin driving harder.

It this caused by the cold weather or could it be some pain the in arse, not directed fault perhaps.

It's just more noticable to the point I've had to come to the forums for some expert advice.

I know the turbo is going okay once going, car power is fine, its just slower to get there.

any thoughts?

Cheers, JM

yeah, it's an easy one to track. pick the same point a few miles from your setting off point (from cold) and glance at temp needle. in cold weather might barely be off 60, in warm / hot it will likely be closer to the 90.

Yep, it's the cold weather. On my 130 there's a very definite cut-off point -- if ambient temp is above about 6 or 7 degrees centigrade then warm up is quick and the car is deffo smoother running.

Below 5 degrees ambient and it runs a bit rougher and takes ages to warm up. Once warmed up economy etc is the same as always but UNTIL it warms up, economy is crap.

Many thanks for the posts, I see the same effects around these temperatures. Guess I never experienced this with petrol so much before hand. Nonetheless I can live with it. When its good, its great.

Many thanks, JM
