Facelifted Ibizas at dealers

I was at Robinsons SEAT, Lowestoft, this morning having my fuel gauge checked out and while I was there they were shifting their consignment of facelifted Ibizas about.

They were all low spec models apart from a silver Cupra TDi. Other than the bodykit on the cheaper models they didn't really look much different to the previous version.

I picked up a brochure while I was there and, according to that, only the Stylance comes with a glove box light, only the FR comes with steering wheel radio controls and the FR comes with twin chrome tailpipes, while the Sport TDi has a "single protruding sport exhaust pipe". All models now have a boot light and from the Stylance up they all come with electrically adjustable door mirrors but they are not heated.

On another note there was a new black Leon Sport 2.0 TFSi parked next to them and I was surprised to see how old fashioned this made the Ibizas look, imo. And as for the Leon with the full bodykit and Touring Car livery in the showroom – wow!

Hmm, interesting changes then, so not all above the 1.4 Sport will have cruise control like was stated? I wonder if the FR will have them yummy alloys?!

Time will tell, well a week will tell :D

According to the brochure cruise control is an option and part of the 'Convenience Pack' along with heated door mirrors with park position and curtain airbags. That sounds as if it will be a pricey option.

There is also a 'Luxury Pack' for the FR which comprises: rain sensor, anti-dazzle rear view mirror, headlamp washer, heated windscreen washer nozzles and heated door mirrors with park position.

The wheels shown in the brochure are the ones on the pre-release photos (5 spokes, similar to the Cupra's but not so dished) and do look very nice. Interestingly they are 6Jx 17" whereas the Cupra's are 7J x 17" although they both use the same profile tyres: 205/40.

Well they don't want to tread on the Cupras toes too much do they? Not if they actually expect to sell many. Wonder if the 6J wheels will be up in under the arches too much like on the Sport.

Do the new bumpers look nice in the flesh? They certainly look a bit more muscular in the photos

I would have thought 205/40s would look a little bit stretched on the 7Js – I don't know if the current Cupra uses this section?

As I said, they only had some basic spec models and one Cupra – no FR. The Cupra looked identical to the previous model to me. The others looked pretty good and had a bit more attitude with the new bumpers. I think they have mainly concentrated on the FR as that is the model which has to compete with your vRS, so I am looking forward to seeing one of them in the flesh.

205s will sit okay on 7J rims. VW use 215/40s on the Polo Dune or whatever it's called, on 7.5J rims.

I have 205/40s on my 7.5J wheels and they are very stretched.

I'm keen to see a new FR in the flesh too, always felt my Sport was too dull considering what it could have been. I think the new FR addresses all the issues the Sport had style wise. :)

I've just noticed another thing in the brochure – they have changed the colour choices. They no longer list Platinum, Ovni or Glacier blue but have added Zenith Grey and Brisa Blue (a bit darker than Glacier).

The FR and Cupra are now only available in Black Magic, Brisa Blue, Zenith Grey, Luna Grey and (from build week 10/06) Emocion Red.

Im gonna pop over Listers in the morning to see if they have one in, and may be cheakey and ask if i can take it out for a test drive. Hope its a 20vt one, just so i can compare how slow it is against mine, and see if they have changed the handeling at all.

first they ditch Ovni, then get rid of Platinum

totally hearsay, but i was told that Ovni may make a come back, and all the new press release/brochures for the ibiza show the Cupra in Ovni

Quote "yellow will be available, afterall, it is their race colour"

was also told a year ago that the new Leon will be available in yellow, after the first launch.
Perhaps to co-incide with the new Cupra?????

Hopefully Ovni comes back before next Feb, when Clifford's replacement is ordered

isn't that the spanish site????

What they call anniversario blue is what we call eclipse blue (like mine)

Crono yellow might be their name for ovni?????

Says it's available from week 22/06 for FR and Cupra only
hope it comes to the uk - that would put an end to any discussion about Clifford's replacement.

ATM it's between Ibiza FR 130 Vs. Leon Stylance
But if yellow is available, then it's ovni FR130 beeza for sure :)
