exhaust restricting or over fuelling issue?

in the early hours last night i had a 'jaunt' up the motorway with my mate in his clio t, after a few miles he rang me up and said the inners of my back box are glowing red hot, i'm wondering if it is one of two reasons;

the exhaust is restricting airflow so is generating excess heat?

or recently it has been over fuelling (maf dying i think) wondering if this may affect it with the excess fuel being thrown through the exhaust?

the car is revo mapped, filter, custom cai and tip running a magnex stainless cat back with 6 x 4 oval.

if it's the exhaust i'll get it booked in for some custom work before i sell it.

thanks.
