Exhaust questions - supersprint

I just bought a cheap backbox of ebay (some of you may of seen it. THIS ONE).

Didnt say much about it but I thought I wouldtake the risk and sell it on of it was the wrong fitting. It arrived today and oddly although he said it was a remis (remus?), it was actually a supersprint

Looks like it will clean up ok and the internal diameter is 50mm. Is this right to fit on an 8v gti?

If I remember right, I dont remember seeing any join on the current exhaust between the middle and backbox so am I supposed to just cut the old one off?

I've had a supersprint back box on mine for about 6 years now. If the exhaust that is on it at the moment is the one from the factory, then it will be one piece and you will need to cut it. I know when Autotechnik fitted mine they had a bit of a nightmare getting it to fit properly without rattling. We finally cured the problem when I replaced the front silencer with a supersprint straight through pipe (i.e. supersprint pipework all the way from the cat back).

I was going to bid on this - and would have definitely done so if I'd know it was a supersprint!
