Exhaust drone towards back of the car

Hi guys,

Recently had a droning noise coming from the center of the car towards the back mainly between 1-2k rpm? Also average mpg down from 35/40mpg to 25mpg. Leon FR190 ST (2019). Any ideas? (Exhaust silencer??).

Around 12 months ago I had the backbox removed and the RS3 tips fitted which was done by DKU Performance who seem to be one of the best in the game?

I’d put money on it being the petrol particulate filter going through a forced regeneration - see the discussion topics at the links below (if you use the forum search engine (top right of screen) you’ll probably find other similar discussion topics.

Nope, only had 1 box removed. There's 3 boxes apparently. If I removed all 3 then I was advised there would be drone.

Drone and poor fuel consumption are two of the telltale tale signs of an OPF regen. I‘ve listed other tell tale signs in my posts in one (or both) of discussion topics that I provided links to above (post #2). If you have any of these other tell tale signs, then IMHO that would tend to confirm it’s a forced OPF regen.
