Exhaust emission control system - warning light

This came up and stayed amber on the dash earlier today, assumed it was to do with the dpf and the manual says take it to the dealer immediately. So phoned the dealer and its booked in for Monday, the service guy said if it's Amber then it's ok to do short runs but it's not dpf related. Anyone else had this and is it bad?

Cars a 2012 143 sport tech st so thankfully still under warranty.

Hard to say what the problem is without the codes but I had a similar issue with my Passat when the dpf light lit up so took it for a blast which cleared it but the following day it came back on and went into limp mode.

I rang the dealer and he said bring it in but I was 70 miles away and working. I got a colleague to pick up my jobs and crawled to the garage and left them about an hour later with a new sensor and had no more problems.

Looks like it needs a new lambda sensor, none at the dealers so will be in for another day but at least it's not too serious.
