What Car? is offering six readers the chance to take part in an exclusive private preview of the forthcoming Seat Exeo, which goes on sale in the UK in April offering compact executive style and quality at a family car price.

It is based on the previous-generation Audi A4 (a former What Car? award winner) so has all the style, practicality and build quality that the A4 was famous for, but with the driving flair and bargain prices that Seat epitomises.

The preview will take place from 4-6pm on Wednesday, March 18 at a private venue in Milton Keynes. Those taking part will be the first members of the public in the UK to see the car in the metal.

If you would like to take part, email [email protected] by midnight, Wednesday, March 11, including the following info: where you’ll be travelling from on the day, your mobile number, what car you currently drive, and a few lines on why you’re interested in seeing the Exeo.

We’ll be asking you for your views on the car’s design, ergonomics and specification – your comments will be published in What Car? magazine, along with photos we’ll take of you with the car. You’ll also be asked to speak briefly on camera for footage at whatcar.com. (Please note that this is a static viewing of the car – you won’t be able to drive it at this event.)

We’ll get in touch on Thursday, March 12 if your application has been successful, with further details of the event.

Shame you can't make it - I won't be there either but my colleague Scott will, making sure the whole What Car? team is kept happy.

We've provided two Exeos for the readers to look at - a silver Sport and a black SE Lux. Hope they go down well!

Will report tmrw evening at twitter.com/SEATUK

The wife and I went to this today. Firstly thank you very much to What Car? and Seat for the opportunity. We both had an enjoyable afternoon.:)

After a short introduction speech involving a general overview of the Exeo, standard specifications and starting prices we were let loose to have a good nose around the cars.

The first impressions seemed to be positive from everyone. Aesthetically the Exeo is not too dissimilar from the old A4 on which they are based, a good thing in my opinion. Seat have successfully updated an ageing design without ruining the good base they started with. It has a front end almost with a scowl, mean looking enough to move people out of the way without it looking ugly. The wife didn't like the large plastic front grill but I didn't think it looked out of place. I was a little disappointed with the unimaginative wheel design and already rusty tailpipes but essentially I'm nit picking.

Internally the cabin feels spacious and extremely comfortable even for those over 6ft. There was a chance to experience both cloth and leather interiors, both of which looked and felt good. I am certain the Exeo would swallow miles over a long journey without the uncomfortable numb bum or back ache. The build quality seems superb, up to the standards of supposedly luxury marques. The dash is good looking with everything where you'd expect it to be. I'm sure I recognise it from somewhere ;) There are functional cubby holes everywhere which would be handy. The glovebox is a useful size, especially in comparison to our LCR!

The standard specifications offered are at a high level in comparison to competitors (I am due for a replacement company car so I have done a fair amount of research recently!) Things like bluetooth, usb compatibility and a separate aux input as standard.

Overall, a good looking high quality vehicle without spending a massive wedge. Sorry for the waffle but I hope some people find it interesting.:D
