Mine doesnt have an EGR valve, could that be why it smoke a bit more than normal?

does it have a MAF

Yep, it has a maf, otherwise it would be running in gimp mode when i take it out.

Yep Allards got rid of it, i now have a straight pipe going through, where the boost adapter thing plugs into to measure the boost for my gauge.

I thought I new what a diode was too muddy but maybe its some new fangled suuuper doooper bhp increasing diode that has nothing to do with electronics heehee

an explanation would be interesting

weeeeeeeee-ll, perhaps then, you can explain where it fits and how it works, and it's relationship to the EGR and smoke map, you obviously understand it better than I do! If there was no improvement, I would go back to a MAF

I understand what a diode does, it allows current flow in one direction but not t'other.

It's how you can replace a variable output sensor (ie the MAF) signal, the output of which is fundamental to the engine running, with a constant signal via a diode

Would be interested to understand how/why this works...

I know that some of the old fuel injected fords and Toyota's had no mass air flow sensors but they also had no cat

I'm surprised that this diode in place of the maf works at all

surly it must have a maf but have some sort of mod to change the output signal of it

can't think why tho
