Erratic Idling

ive had the same few problems on my 2001 20vt when 1st started in morning it surges at high revs then dies down after a few mins??aint a clue wot that is???
then it started to idle really bad so went to work and put the diagnostic on it and it came up with the following codes
07608
17705
17704 and im not too sure if i read the last 1 wrong or not but ive wrote down 16486???
so...so far ive changed my maf and its going ok so far apart from the surging in mornings or when left fot ages without starting.but im going to change my coolant temp sensor as ive been told 1 of those codes refures to that so...not too sure wot the other's are so if anyone can help??plz lol

when you say surging in the mornings... this at idle ? rpm needle swaying back and forth by around 300/400 rpm? within 2-3mins it all settles down?

i had the exact same problem with numerous trips to the garage coil packs changed and coolant temp sensor changed nothing worked in the end it turned out to be a split hose which id checked for loads and loads of times so mite be worth another look perhaps

well taumapat,as soon as i start it the needle stays about 1500revs then after 2-3 mins in dies down to normal,wot hose should i check 1st and where abouts is it lol??

oh rite so thats wot it is then??its acutally normal,for it to rev a bit high then die down after a few mins lol :) but must say when yu try to drive off while its revs are high it drives **** untill its died down?

cleaned my throttle body out and reset the ecu and tightened all the clips and re greased my dump valve and cleaned my dynatwist and it drives a shed load better, more responsive and feels agile. and no codes so bonus:D

first thing as said the revs will run high. this should be steady though. it then settles to normal idle. totally normal but the car should drive ok.
if its kangarooing or revs are swaying you may have condensation building up in the maf plug. easy fix with di-electric grease.

1500rpm sounds a touch too high?
