ok i'm now lost tried putting a spacer on and nothing so have now put the cat back on and still nothing i'm now [:@] and evan more ... so a quick recap i put a since putting a de-cat on my gas pedal stopped working and car came up with the following faults

18039 accelerator position sensor (g79) signal too high
18042 accelerator position sensor 2 (g185) signal too high
17581 angle sensor 2 for throttle actuator (g188) signal too high
17987 throttle actuator (j338) adaptation not started

so i was told to change the pedal done that no change, then told to change the ecu done that worked for 6.5miles then same problem again, then told to clean throttle body no change also tried the spacer and nothing so have now put the car back to normal with the original ecu but still nothing im now pulling my hair out please :help: me

Read on another forum that o2 sensor not having connectivity will not allow throttle body to work

Ive read a few threads on various forums now with people shorting the ecu due to o2 sensor or sensor wiring.

As you have tried a new ecu i would check the o2 sensor wiring/plugs and make sure all contact is good, could be a dodgy connection on one of the sensors
Clean the terminals in the plugs and go from there?

Hi
I have now changed both lamba sensors and still can't get this car to rev!!!
well i put then on left the wires dangling and started the car up to see what happened and the car started to rev by its self so i decided to shut it off as went straght to 7000rpm and didn't want it to go any higher. I then went back under the car to tidy up the wires jumped back in and no revs once again so went back under to check the wiring was fine got back into the car started up and it started self revving again so shut it back off started back up and it wouldn't rev so the bloke in the garage seems to think there maybe a short in the loom for the lamba sensors. So i have now plugged the car in and its coming up with
18039
18042
16486
01314
I have tried to clear them and 18039 and 18043 stays on i feel i'm get close to fixing this problem and would love to have my car back on road before xmas

I've got the same problem with my leon cupra , it revs the nuts out of itself , but this happened after the wiring to post cat lambda was damaged when fitting decat and exhaust, i think it may have spiked ecu i'm waiting for a replacement ecu, should have some answers next week

hi i'm still not up and running as yet but i think i'm almost there as im down to two hard codes that wont erase
18039 accelerator position sensor (g79) signal too high
18042 accelerator position sensor 2 (g185) signal too high
but the epc light is still on thinking about going to the dealers now or dose anyone no a good seat specialist in birmingham

sorted!!!!!!

Good news my leon cupra is sorted now , ecu had been spiked by broken lambda sensor harness when it broke, ive now replaced ecu with good second hand unit , reprogrammed keys and reset adaption on throttle body , it now behaves and drives spot on . (at last) . I will be sending my original ecu to ecu doctor to sort off and keep as a spare, now i think i need bigger intercooler and remap , oh and sort out exhaust manifold cause its got a small crack:cry:

That's good to hear.

I'll go on the hunt for a secondhand ECU and try this.

Need to replace one of my lambdas also, as the wirring doesn't look too great.

Was your old ECU mapped? Were you able too save it and transfer it over to the other one?
