About to do an engine swap on an LCR any tips short cuts or things to watch out for.
I've done loads of renos 172s 182s impreza turbo focus's etc but never any seat/vw/audis any help would be good.

I'll be taking it out the top with gearbox attached unless people tell me otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

Best way is bumper off, crash bar and slam panel, all wiring off to one side, down pipe or turbo bolts off, remove aux belt, uno hose from PAS reserviour and move pump to one side, then undo dogbone, drive shafts, both side mounts and shes out, just remeber to remove everything, heater hoses, wires. You can remove without engine crane but idea to have one for refitting, With 2 post ramp you can lift car off the engine but you would have to remove shafts or undo ball joints.only things connecting it to body is loom and pipe work, also need to remove air con hoses, to do it out through top you would have to take bonnet off most likely. Its a long job, hard work, but easy to do if you get me have a look at my readers ride thread to get an idea.

id drop the oil and take bottom arms of and drop links off big nut of the end of the driveshafts then the shafts just pull out
they will be a bit stiff tho so copper hammer the bottom arms and gentle knock the end of the shafts though the disc, hub then pull the disc and every thing to 1 side. then if the shafts dont pull out just gentle tap the shafts at the gearbox end. this is how we take gearboxes out but shaun prob nos better then me if you can remove it all in 1 go

Not bringing suspension out just going to bring engine & box straight out the front.

M10 spline and you dont have to remove shafts, leave them in. No need to drain oil either. If your struggling to get it out with shafts in then remove the 2 18mm bolts on front wishbone mount and it allows you to push wheels out enough to have space.
