Hi Chaps,

Does anyone have experience with replacing the engine mounts on a tdi mk4?

There is to much movement for my liking and the dealer (with whom i still have warranty) say that its normal and will not replace the mounts.

So where is the best pace to get the mounts and which ones are the best to replace as i cant track down the movement that well.

Finally any idea of prices and difficulty levels.

thanks

Normally the dog bone mount (underneather the car centrally) and the gearbox mount (Under the battery tray) are the first to go, but a bit of movement is normal. I did mine on my TDI.

The stay arm (dogbone mount) is really easy and the gearbox mount wasn't to bad either. Just put the front of the car on stands and supported the engine with a trolley jack. There is only one more on mine (on the left near the cam belt cover).

I got both from the dealers. They weren't that cheap though, for what they are.

ive been thinking about changing the mounts on my fr tdi. on start up seems to move around more than it used too - might just be my imagination, whats the general life expectancy of these mounts and which are the best ones to replace with - considering an upcoming p-torque remap
