Engine idle issues

Hi all,

Ive got a mk2 ibiza 2.0 16v abf and when the engine is cold for example first thing on a morning, the engine doesnt seem to idle very well it just keeps bouncing off the revs as if im blipping the throttle, i really dont know why this is happening, oh and when i set off its just a touch on the flat side, seems to be a little bit down on power. Once the car gets up to temperature its absolutely fine!
Any ideas?

sounds like the idle control valve mate may need a clean or replacing. or the cold start injector is a common problem on the 16v. from what i can remember from past experience.

There's no F in Quality..
the other thing to try is the coolant temp sensor.

it might be faulty, causing the ECU to think the engine is 'hot', and therefore under-fueling it when it's cold.

If the idle is Ok when the engine is warm, then I would try the temp sensor first.
