Engine Cutting Out

Hi all.

Please can soemone help me? :D

I have a SEAT IBIZA, 1.4, year 2000 which i adore but since i took it into my local garage and had teh clutch fitted i have had a fault on it. My Ibiza has been cutting out whilst driving, it happens when I go above 60mph and i am travelling for more than half an house. Usually when I am on the motorway! After sitting on the hard shoulder for 30 minutes it starts again and i can go for another hour before it cuts out again. They only way I can keep it going is to drive at less than 60mph however, it does not seem to be the speed but more the rev’s as it doesn’t like going over 3,000rpm.

I have taken it to a garage and they could not find a fault except that it registered a problem with the crank sensor, which they wiped from the cars memory but it has not stopped my car from cutting out. Is the crankshaft near the clutch; could they have damaged it when fitting my clutch or do you think it is a seprarte issue? Has anyone else had this problem and is it expensive to fix.

Thank you :)

yer the crank/engine speedsensor (g28) is located under the starter motor in the bell housing and needs to be removed to take out the gearbox as its a hall effect sensor and can be damaged easily with a small blow

Brilliant, thank you for your speedy response.

I have emailed your resposne to the garage in the hope that when i take my car in to be fixed they can look at the crank/engine speedsensor and fix it. Life is so boring when you cant go above 60!

Thanks again
