Hi Guys, slight problem with my cupra over the last couple of weeks.....

it is randomly cutting out.

sometimes i could drive a good 50 mile of mixed driving and have nothing

then all of a sudden i could slow down to about 10mph and it would just die, electric would cut and engine just stop along with power steering etc.....

anyone know what this could be?

any help appreciated.

thanks.

Hello mate - I had the same problem with my previous Leon, and I dropped it to the dealer....it was cutting out as I was slowing down to go around corners etc or stopped at lights. The dealer just used some of that engine cleaner stuff and charged me a 100 euro! You should try that maybe...you should be able to get it in Halfords for about a fiver! Good luck with it mate.

mods are......

revo stage2 remap
milltek turbo back system
green dynatwist induction
ths downpipe and decat
4.0bar fuel pressure regulator
forge front mount intercooler
forge 007 dump valve

this has become a big problem now :(

done the engine flush and while i was at it i changed oil and oil filter but was out tonight and cut out twice....

it has now got worse to the point that when i am restarting i have to pump the accelerator to get it going again.

what you think?

only thing i can think is that i have a small blow out just after the down pipe somewhere, but would this effect it?

thanks for the help.

If it just suddenly stops ... like an electrical fault (ie no spluttering etc) then I'd change the Engine Speed Sensor. Costs £60. I paid £50 fitting to have mine replaced.

other things you might notice with this fault are 'jolts' because sometimes the sensor cuts and then starts working again in a fraction of a second.

You might get limited to 3000rpm 'limp mode' too. There will be no EPC light but if you put the car on VAG-COM it will be writing an intermittent fault on engine speed sensor message.

The Seat main dealer was usless said there were no fault codes - when the independent used VAG-COM there was and he printed it out to proove it.

Watch out because some are held on with 4 bolts and some have 5 so best to have a look before you order the part.

I wasted 18 months of my life on this problem.

If it only happens when you are slowing down or pulling up then it could be the throttle body is full of sh**e.
