The insulation material that's under my engine cover completely disintegrated when I changed the cambelt - it was like piecing together a jigsaw puzzle trying to use the bits that hadn't crumbled to dust.
When I do a search (both here and on other forums) the information comes up that people ended up making new ones using some sticky-backed heat shield material they found on eBay and cutting it to size and sticking it to the engine cover. The trouble is that the links to the material are generally dead, what with the threads being more than a few years old.
I've got a few quiet mornings, so was looking into doing this, but would really appreciate finding out what material people used, how thick it was and how much of it they needed. Links would be great, but if there are search terms so people who find this thread in a few years' time will know what to look for, that would be amazing.
